RBI% RBI ÷ RISP — the share of his chances a hitter cashed. RISP is every runner in scoring position while he batted, counted one at a time: second and third on the bases is two, a man on first is none. A walk, intentional walk or hit-by-pitch is not a chance at all — he never got a pitch to swing at — so those trips leave both halves of the fraction, a forced-in run going with the runners it was forced from.
